Who We Are
Our Mission: Our mission is to provide homeless women on the Monterey Peninsula supportive resources and a caring community.
Our Vision: Our vision is for the unhoused and housing insecure women on the Monterey Peninsula to live a healthier more secure life that includes a pathway out of homelessness or housing insecurity.
History: Gathering for Women (GFW) is a non-profit organization serving homeless women on the Monterey Peninsula, launching April 1, 2014. Gathering for Women provides the care, the support, and the dignity a woman needs to remain safe and healthy as she seeks affordable housing and a more sustainable and secure future.
What We Do
The GFW program for homeless women is a day center operating Monday through Friday. It offers a free breakfast and lunch, hot showers, free clothing and personal care items, limited emergency assistance, guest speakers from community organizations, and case management and referral services. A primary goal of our day center is to provide a safe, caring community for homeless women who are among the most vulnerable members of society. The program is operated by a committed staff and corp of volunteers.
GFW is funded through local grants and generous contributions from individuals, and organizations.
