2nd Mondays: Ishxenta State Park w/ State Parks Natural Resources Team

Be part of one of our longest running volunteer projects! Join us at Ishxenta State Park for a morning of pulling invasive French Broom from the beautiful Monterey Pine Forest. Volunteers must be comfortable walking and working in difficult terrain, off-trail, and in areas with poison oak, steep slopes, and ticks.

2nd Thursdays: Pfeiffer Big Sur and Andrew Molera State Parks w/ State Parks Natural Resources Team

Project: Each month we'll visit either Andrew Molera or Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park for a morning of natural resources volunteer work.

Project: Make a difference by raising funds for hands-on educational opportunities to underfunded schools! The Monterey State Historic Park Custom House Store raises funds for the Monterey State Historic Park School Programs. All profits go towards covering costs including supplies, transportation, and grants for underfunded schools, as well as the restoration of our historic structures. The Custom House Store is entirely volunteer-run and is our most important year-long fundraising effort!

Volunteers operate the park store located inside the Custom House and provide general visitor services. Training is provided for all volunteers.

The Custom House Store has volunteer shifts from 10:30 am to 1:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m every Thursday through Sunday, and on the Mondays of holiday weekends. Contact the volunteer coordinator at mshp.volcoor@parks.ca.gov for more information.

Project: Make the difference in a school child's education and turn their lessons into something they'll remember for the rest of their lives! School group program volunteers assist MSHP Staff with hands-on interpretive presentations to 4th grade school classes. These activities introduce children to the tactile reality of Monterey's history and contextualize their lessons. Activities include rope making, tortilla cooking, cartography, leather branding, and playing with historic games and toys.

Shifts are from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. or 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays during the School Program seasons. The active School Program seasons run from January to May and September to November. Training is provided for all volunteers.

Volunteer work with a view! Join us on the 4th Tuesday of every month in beautiful Garrapata State Park for a morning of volunteer work. Activities include litter pick up, invasive plant removal, habitat restoration work, and more!

Please wear closed-toe shoes, pants, and sun protection. Don't forget your reusable water bottle!

Meeting location: Soberanes Point trailhead on the west side of Hwy 1, across from Soberanes Canyon  trailhead (Gate 8).

Project: Join us in the picturesque Asilomar Dunes! We’ll be removing invasive plants, protecting endangered plants from deer, working in the greenhouse, fixing fences, picking up litter, and more. Poor air quality from wildfires or rain will cancel work days

POINT LOBOS STATE NATURAL RESERVE - MONTHLY NATURAL RESOURCES VOLUNTEER DAY

Project: Join us on the 3rd Wednesday of every month for a morning of volunteer work at Beautiful Point Lobos SNR! Activities include litter pick up, invasive plant removal, habitat restoration work, and more!

Work locations in the park will vary, so be sure to check the district website for details.

*Special note: Inform the kiosk staff that you are attending the volunteer work day for complimentary admission when you enter the park.

CARMEL RIVER STATE BEACH - MONTHLY VOLUNTEER DAY

Led by State Parks Natural Resource Team  

Meeting location: The parking area located at the cross section of Ribera Rd. & Cuesta Way (at the end of Ribera Road above the Ribera stairs). 

Project: Join us the 2nd Saturday of each month for a morning of habitat restoration work at Carmel River State Beach! Projects include weeding invasive plants, planting and watering restoration projects, picking up trash, and more! Tools and training provided.

Please wear closed-toe shoes, pants, and sunscreen. Don't forget your reusable water bottle!
