Sustainable Seaside is organizing Seaside's Annual Earth Day Celebration on Sunday, April 21, 2024, from 1 pm to 4 pm on the Seaside City Hall lawn, 440 Harcourt Blvd., Seaside, CA.
Volunteer help is needed from 12 noon (set up) through 4:30 (clean up). Shifts are flexible. Snacks will be provided.
Help is needed with the following activities:
- Check-in volunteers as they arrive and have them sign a waiver.
- Help people unload their tabling materials, find their info booth (table), and set up their pop-up tent.
- Make sure each participant gets a ticket for the free raffle. Provide information about the raffle (prizes, drawing times, etc.)
- Set up and monitor the water bottle refilling station. Refill the water dispenser as needed.
- Monitor waste, i.e., proper disposal of compost, trash, and recycled items. Help people place waste in the proper bins (trash, recycle, or compost)
- Assist the organizers with miscellaneous tasks such as setting up the performance stage and audio.
- Help set up the children’s art table – butcher paper and markers.
- Host the children's art table, encouraging and inspiring "Earth Day" themed art doodles.
- Help take down and clean up after the event.
Free activities are planned all afternoon, including an Electric Vehicle Ride, Drive, & Display Fair, live music by Palenke Arts youth ensembles, a Trashion Show, educational exhibits, booths and displays, a tree-planting demo, hands-on fun activities for families and kids, and a free raffle for eco-friendly items. Big Sur Taco food truck will also be parked at the event selling freshly-made Mexican street food.
The weather in April can be unpredictable. We recommend wearing layers, a hat, using sunscreen, and staying hydrated. A water bottle refilling station will be onsite. Bring your own reusable water bottle.
