Description

September 7th is California Biodiversity Day, a chance to inspire discovery of the nature of California through week-long activities, while encouraging everyday actions to protect and steward it. Please join in California biodiversity celebrations by hosting or attending a nature event, participating in the Biodiversity Challenge from anywhere in California, amplifying local events, and promoting awareness of biodiversity and the actions we can all do to care for it. The Monterey District's Natural Resources Volunteer Program is helping to host two week-long Bioblitzes, with multiple events and opportunities to participate! There are several ways to get involved:

  • Join our Point Lobos SNR iNaturalist project
  • Join our Ishxenta SP iNaturalist project
  • Visit Point Lobos SNR or Hatton Canyon (part of Ishxenta SP) any time during the week of September 7 - 15 and make observations using the iNaturalist app!
