Description

Meeting Location: Marathon Flats, the large field at the southeast corner of Hwy1 and Rio Road in Carmel

Details: Join us in celebrating California Biodiversity Week at Ishxenta State Park! Explore the amazing diversity of life at this unique state park and contribute to our species list in the beautiful Hatton Canyon area of Ishxenta SP. Join us for a 3-mile roundtrip hike up Hatton Canyon, an important oasis for native plants and animals amidst bustling shopping centers and cozy neighborhoods. We'll be joined by butterfly expert Chris Tenney, author of "Butterflies of Monterey County."

We'll offer two, two-hours walks: 10:00-12:00, and 12:30-2:30. Join for one walk or stay for both! Bring your curiosity and a smartphone with the iNaturalist app installed, or a digital camera to upload your photos later.

Meet at "Marathon Flats," the large empty lot at the corner of Highway 1 and Rio Road.
