Meeting Location: Marathon Flats, the large field at the southeast corner of Hwy1 and Rio Road in Carmel
Details: Join us in celebrating California Biodiversity Week at Ishxenta State Park! Explore the amazing diversity of life at this unique state park and contribute to our species list in an area that is usually accessible only by permit and guided tours. Embark on a one-and-a-half-mile roundtrip hike along the San Jose Creek trail, traversing a natural preserve that safeguards a crucial wildlife corridor. Bring your curiosity and a smartphone with the iNaturalist app installed, or a digital camera to upload your photos later. You may even spot rare and endangered plants and animals along the way.
To protect this sensitive area, we will meet and vanpool to the park, ensuring minimal impact on the environment. Please wear sun protection and good hiking shoes and bring water. Open to ages 12 and up. Limited spaces are available and reservations are required. Email Violet.Smith@parks.ca.gov to reserve your spot.
